Last weekend was spent shooting and developing, animation, and title backgrounds. So much fun. Getting closer to a rough telecine, to meet a deadline.

Hey guys,
So a few months ago, I produced my first short film. It’s called “First Words” and it’s the story of a bilingual couple, anxiously waiting to hear their son’s first word. Will it be en français, with a happy “Papa?” Or in english, with a soft “Mommy?” When little Mateo decides it’s…

The doubt (and worse) wanders in after the fatigue of a full time job, but it’s posts like this that get me going again.
We’re all steeping in sepia zeitgeist, wandering around this pixelated hall of smoke and mirrors.
Understandably, a lot of us spend a LOT of time worrying too much about whether or not we are, in fact, unlovable, boring, hackneyed, derivative artwankers, cluttering the world with yet more…

ALTERNATE UNIVERSES MEME » Matthew+Mary (Downton Abbey) in SPACE for intoenfinity
O R I O N (soundtrack: 1/2)The last woman he ever saw was Mary. Cool, calculated Mary. Beautiful even as she whispered “system failure, remain calm”, her face burning into the back of his eyelids. And all at once, everything had gone very, very bright, and very, very dark.
In the distant future, the Mars Atmospheric Resurgence Initiative (or MARI) was catastrophically aborted mid-mission. Matthew Crawley wakes up a hundred years after the incident to find his surroundings exactly as he’d remembered; life-support replenished, ship repaired, and Mary, the ship’s holograph, by his side. He has no memory of the incident, nor any idea how to return home. With the enigmatic Mary as his only companion, Matthew pieces together what happened, where he is, and most of all, why he’s alone in the black of deep space.
Matthew eventually finds himself falling in love with Mary, convinced her artificial intelligence has manifested into something more. When she inexplicably starts to disappear, his feelings descend into a dangerous obsession. Battling psychosis, Matthew combines his search for home with his search for Mary, and he soon discovers that there is no abyss is greater or more terrifying than the human heart.
Meeting of two masters. Totally worth the read.
